Next Week’s Glance at Wildwood School – December 11
1. The Global Organizations Fundraising Event was a huge success today. Thank you to our Grade Three classes for organizing such a wonderful event. The Global organizations, (UNICEF, Doctors without Borders, WWF, Red Cross and Free the Children) will benefit from all the sale items. Thank you to all for your support with this event. In the Spirit of the Circle a difference will be made in the lives of many by this special learning event in Grade Three.
2. Thank you Wildwood School families and friends for supporting our Scholastic Book Fair. Our net sales (excluding taxes) were $4,207.84! Also, congratulations to our ‘Family Event Door Prize’ winners, Kinley M. and Ms. Luchynski in Room 7. They each received $25.00 in free books. A special thanks to our parent volunteers and support staff that came to help at the Book Fair! Your precious time is very much appreciated!
3. At Wildwood School we have been working with a great program (Read and Write Gold) that works to improve our students' reading and writing confidence. At our last PL Day we worked with a CBE specialist to use this program so we could instruct our students that might need support. Read & Write Gold provides support to assist our students in reading information that may be too difficult. It will help them when researching information and writing assignments. We have purchased the program which also allows our families to access it at home to support the students when doing homework and or projects. Please see the attachment for instructions on how to download this program and how it works.
4. Carolling on Dec. 17 at 8:45 am. Grade Six Ms. Nixon's class will also perform on Handbells and Grade One students will sing the Dot Song. Carolling on Dec. 18 at 8:45 am and Grade Six Ms. Hildalgo and Grade Five Ms. Green's class will also perform on Handbells.
5. Grade Five vaccinations Dec 16.
6. School council meeting 6:30 pm. All parents/guardians are welcome!
7. On December 15th, Wildwood School will be holding a We Are Silent Day. This event has been organized by Wildwood students who attended the province-wide We Day event in October. All students are asked to give up their ability to communicate as a way of raising money and awareness for children’s rights. Please see attachment!
8. Reading Tip: Help students make connections to their own life. For example, If the book is about an airplane ride, ask, “Have you ever been in an airplane?” If yes, where they went, etc. If no, ask where they would like to go, who they would like to visit, etc.
Have a great weekend!
